Shantel | Senior Class of 2014 | Graham Senior Portraits



 

I am so excited to finally share Shantel's senior pictures publicly!  Shantel requested senior portraits way back in August and was all set to do them a few weeks later in September.  But the threat of rain had us pretty nervous.  I can normally shoot portraits in light drizzle, but this was monsoon, rain an inch in an hour type of rain.  I'm so glad we were able to reschedule for the next sunbreak, because this was perfect weather for Shantel!

 This lovely Graham-Kapowsin senior just oozes sunshine anyway.  There was no way to have her portraits done in the rain.  Her dad accompanied and even assisted during our two hour session among my secret locations.

 If you know Shantel, she'll give you the story of one of our great locations and how we even got good lighting advice from a stranger!

 And if you know her, you know that this picture below is NOT her normal persona.  This girl can laugh like no other!  I don't think I've ever laughed this much or this hard with a client.

 

Graham is full of great locations for country girls, right Shantel?

Some new stores have moved into our area, which gives me the opportunity to find brick walls without leaving town, ha ha.  And do you love her shoes here??

Alivia | Class of 2014 | Spanaway Senior Portraits



 

Summer winds down and school is in the air.  Especially for this year's senior high students!  This is the best time to get senior portraits done!  The sun, the hours, the opportunity to showcase your passions and talents!  I only take on senior clients as a special request, but Alivia and I had such a great time I may be open to doing this more often!  Alivia is about to be a senior at a local high school and she chose two locations that mean a lot to her.  The first place we stopped was at Mountain Meadow Lavender Farm.  The summer has been so warm and sunny that they had begun harvesting the lavender a few weeks prior to this session.  But there were still so many great things about their farm, we just had a blast! 

 

The second location we visited was a nearby farm that belongs to friends of Alivia's family.  She has spent a lot of time here and is one of the places she is the most comfortable.

Alivia is a great friend who loves to exercise her creative side.  Her big heart and generous nature is easy to see and easy to love.

So have a great year Alivia!  I loved getting to know you and have a small part in celebrating this season in your life!

The U Family | Spokane Family Portraits

Spokane is such a fun place!  It's a dry heat, can be breezy at times and there is always a source of water nearby.  For my parents, they not only have a creek within a few minutes walk of their back yard, they also have created a pond where my siblings and I used to make mud holes.  

 

Mrs. U has made this a great welcome spot, shady and easy to relax.  The grandkids and dog like to dip their feet, chase the fish and toss in their play fishingpoles. 

Since we try to always take a picture of the grandkids together each summer, this year we decided to do it right here at Grandma's Pond.  I asked each of them to test out my spot, a shady rock on the far side of the pond.  I let them pose themselves and this is what they chose to do...

 

Yessir, we have quite the variety among 8 grandkids!  

 We also managed to get all the girl cousins together.

We even had time for my brother.

 

 

Wait, Mr. & Mrs. U should get a chance too, right?

The A Family | Spokane Family Portraits

Spokane is my hometown and I love to take my kids there to visit with my family.  My sister lives there with her family (you may remember them from this post).  Usually I take pictures of just the girls or just her, but this time we got the whole family involved!  Mrs. A wanted lots of green and something on the north side of town.  We kicked around a few location ideas and settled on Whitworth University.  They were married at the church near campus and we have family ties to the school and church. 
It was a really hot evening!  I was baking as I drove around campus looking for the best shade, the most green and some brick.  Ha ha, Whitworth is full of brick buildings!  We decided on this lawn in front of Weyerhauser Hall. 

Meet my oldest neice, Ms. H!  She's a spunky girl with lots of imagination and amazing blue eyes.
Next is the darling Ms. T.  She holds has a taste for fashion, flare and enjoys finally begin a big sister.  And to add to the fun there is a new addition - Ms. C.  The youngest little lady likes to walk, talk on the phone and give "big smiles."

A Family | Tacoma Family Portraits

Now this was a surprise, there was only ONE family in all of 2012 with the first name beginning with A!  Please join me for their chilly but adorable family portraits taken in Tacoma near the UW buildings.  We were so lucky to find fall colors even through the wind and rain had begun to rip them away in most other locations.

Boy how cute is this family?!  I thought it was so sweet that the older girls wanted pictures with their parents.

Then we got a little time with just the Mrs. and Ms. A's.  Little Miss A was good at smiling, but she was even better at jumping and smiling at the same time!

And little Mr. A was so good and agreeable. 

The B Family | Portraits for the Grown Family | Puyallup Portraits

I was so excited when I got a call from Mrs. B asking for the next available portrait time.  It happened to be the very next day!  The B Family is a friend of ours and if you're a friend of mine at all, I've probably already photographed you in my imagination.  Since we see them frequently I already had a feel for their relationships and what would come naturally to them.  Add in my imaginary portrait that had already been done (ha ha ha!) it was so exciting to do this one for real and see the results!

 

We were blessed with an extraordinarily good day for weather.  The sun was out, the clouds came through just a little, we were all warm and not a bit chilled!  Yes, in the Tacoma and Puyallup area you can get chilled in August!

 

 

After we had tried three different looks in this first location I brought them to a little secret of mine.  It's not easy to get to, but this is the first family in a while that didn't involve toddlers.  After a little jog, a little maneuvering, a little adventure, we got to my new place.  Mr. B & Mrs. B had asked for a lot of greenery and I think this fit the bill!

Now this is my favorite part.  There is something amazing about a couple who has been together for a while.  It was easy for me to see how much they value each other.  I was glad we made time for this!
