Aly and Zach | Part 2 | Tacoma Wedding Photography

Welcome to the continuation of Aly and Zach's wedding day!  Lovely Tacoma weather was moody, alternating from sunshine to overcast skies, threatening to rain but never when we needed to be outside.  We began the family portraits at Parkland Lutheran church and it is just gorgeous!  They have a beautiful sanctuary.  Aly and Zach chose to keep the simplicity of the church and add their personal touches.

Congratulations Zach and Aly!

After the signing of the marriage certificate, the bride and groom zipped off to their fun and personal reception at the Star Center.

The wedding cake was actually made of cereal treats.   The bride and groom (see next photo) had quite the time getting the knife through!  The groom's cake was a great surprise for him.

The toasts were given and many tears were shed.  The father of the bride made everyone laugh and cry.  The maid of honor made everyone feel like a friend of the bride.  And the groomsman had the room laughing.

After dinner the dancing began with the bride and groom's first dance.
And they welcomed others to join them.

The Mother of the Groom also gets a moment with her son.

And the party really got started...

Quick, let's reign it back in with something expected!
Ah yes, the toss of the bridal bouquet....

And the garter toss...

Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. M!

Aly and Zach | Part 1 | Tacoma Wedding Photography

Have you dreamed of celebrating your wedding day in a city that means something to you?  In places that you've grown up with, in your home church, surrounded with your closest friends and family?    Let me introduce you to the city of Tacoma and my featured couple today, Aly and Zach.
The bride grew up nearby and chose locations special to her.  We started at the Silver Cloud Inn, right on the waterfront, for some time for the ladies and gentlemen to get ready.  Aly's entourage (cute shirts!) were fantastic in their detailed attention to her needs and her dress.

All photos can be viewed larger by clicking on them.  You can also scroll through the photos with that viewer by using your mouse or left/right buttons.

Aly and her mom April had so many details prepared for the day.  Cute cups personalized for each young lady, comfortable shoes for the entire day and umbrellas personalized for the day, just in case of rain!

The bride's jewelry was simple and perfect for her dress.

The groomsmen were getting ready right next door.  Zach shared with me that he was carrying a four leaf clover given to him by his grandfather.

And someone needed a little hand straightening a tie.
And we paused to give Aly some time with her parents.

The beauty of the Silver Cloud Inn is that we have access to water and some gorgeous skies!

There is a dock right off the hotel, and we got lucky with no rain for just enough pictures.
Yes, this happy couple has some fun friends!  The skies changed quickly from sunlight to overcast to threatening rain.  Thank you Mrs. D for the umbrellas!

There are so many reasons to do portraits of the groom seeing the bride for the first time.  The groom's reaction is always honest and open, amazed at the gorgeous woman in front of him.  She may not really see his face at that moment, so we capture it for all time.  Thank you Kristin for being my second photographer today and helping capture both sides of the story.
Here is Zach's first look at Aly in her wedding dress.

Let's leave them alone for a few minutes...

Now that they've seen each other and had a chance to relax together, we rejoin them and bring the whole group together.  What a lovely view with Vashon Island in the background!

We continued to take portraits in the Silver Cloud Inn (amazing light in the lobby) before the gang got ready to go to the church.  Now here's the FUN part, in a bus!

As for the rest of the story, I'm going to have to put that in another post!
Thank you Silver Cloud Inn for your graciousness in hosting this fun loving group!
